Kennel Attendant Jobs in New Hampshire
A Kennel Attendant primarily provides care for animals in a boarding or veterinary facility. Their duties may involve feeding, grooming, and exercising animals, cleaning cages and kennels, monitoring animals for signs of illness or distress, and providing comfort to anxious or distressed animals. They also maintain records of the animals' care, behavior, and any significant changes. They may also be tasked with administrative duties such as taking bookings, managing the kennel's schedule, and handling customer inquiries and complaints. In a veterinary facility, they may assist veterinarians or vet technicians in providing medical care.
Important skills for a Kennel Attendant include physical fitness, patience, good communication skills, and a genuine love for animals. They should be comfortable handling animals of all sizes and temperaments, and should have a basic understanding of animal behavior and care. A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required, and some facilities may require certification in pet CPR and First Aid. Previous experience with animal care, such as volunteering at an animal shelter, working as a pet sitter or dog walker, or even pet ownership, can be beneficial. Previous roles may also include customer service or administrative roles, as these can provide valuable skills for managing the administrative side of the job.
