PRE-VET TECH INSTRUCTOR - Career CampusPOSTED: May 23, 2025REPORTS TO: DirectorAPPLICATION DEADLINE: Until FilledSTARTING DATE: August 11, 2025JOB SUMMARY: Tolles Career & Technical Center is seeking a Pre-Vet Tech Instructor to inspire and train the next generation of veterinary professionals. This position involves teaching high school students the foundational knowledge and practical skills necessary for careers in veterinary technology and animal care. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in animal science or veterinary medicine, along with a passion for education and student success.RESPONSIBILITIES:Deliver a standards-based curriculum aligned with the Ohio Department of Education career-technical content for Pre-Veterinary Technology programs.Provide hands-on instruction in animal care, anatomy and physiology, veterinary terminology, clinical procedures, lab techniques, and safety protocols.Prepare students for post-secondary programs and industry credentials where applicable.Maintain a well-organized, clean, and safe lab/classroom environment that mirrors veterinary care settings.Monitor and assess student performance using academic and technical criteria; maintain accurate records of student progress.Coordinate experiential learning opportunities such as internships, externships, or guest speakers with local veterinary clinics, animal shelters, or agricultural programs.Promote student involvement in career-technical student organizations (CTSOs) and relevant competitions or events.Stay current with trends in veterinary medicine, educational strategies, and industry certifications through continuous professional development.QUALIFICATIONS:Must possess or be eligible to obtain an Ohio Career-Technical Education license in Agriculture, Animal Science, or a related field by August 1, 2025.Minimum of five (5) years of recent, relevant experience in veterinary technology, animal science, or related fields.Degree in Veterinary Technology, Animal Science, or DVM preferred.Previous teaching or training experience is a plus but not required.Strong organizational, instructional, and classroom management skills.Commitment to preparing students for future careers in animal care and veterinary sciences.BENEFITS:Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
