Job Summary

We are seeking an Animal Support Technician II to join our Insourcing Solutions team, locatedin Dixon, CA

As the Animal Support Technician II, perform assignments of caretaking/husbandry, cage wash, some technical and other duties as assigned at this client site.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Monitor animal health and welfare while performing daily animal health observations and animal husbandry duties to include: performing daily equipment checks; providing appropriate food, water and enrichment; performing cage changing and/or cage cleaning; recording animal health concerns.
  • Assist with restraint, handling and manipulation of various animal species as assigned by the on-site supervisor or facility/attending veterinarian.
  • Prepare and submit required written records, charts, logs and inventories.
  • Maintain accurate records of animal breeding, health, and housing/isolator or support areas. May set up breeding pairs, perform plug checks, conduct weaning and collecting samples.
  • Receive, inspect and house incoming animals. Assist with the receipt, stocking and maintenance of supply inventories.
  • Sanitize, maintain, and repair facility equipment and caging. Perform routine preventative maintenance on cagewash and autoclaves, including routine inspection of cleaning filters, roto-arms, and other critical control points as directed.
  • Interact with customers as directed to resolve customer requests, inquiries, and complaints, and may be tasked to provide technical assistance.
  • May perform post-surgical observations, record keeping and basic technical skills such as fasting, body weights and food/water measurements. May perform animal identification (ear notching, tattooing, microchip). May be tasked to assist with breeding and weaning procedures to ensure appropriate production levels.
  • May perform basic technical skills such as fasting, body weights and food/water measurements. May perform rodent dosing such as PO, IP, SQ and topical.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

The following are minimum requirements related to the Animal Support Technician II position.

  • Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or related discipline and 1 year related rodent laboratory experience or CVT/LVT/RVT certification and one 1 years related rodent husbandry and technical experience OR High School Diploma/GED and two (2) years related rodent husbandry and technical experience required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
  • Certification/Licensure: AALAS certification at the ALAT level/CALAS initial level preferred
  • Other (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities): Ability to maintain required attendance level and adherence to work schedule required. Computer literacy in Microsoft Outlook, word processing and database record keeping required. Ability to develop and maintain positive, professional working relationships with all levels of management, clients and staff. Ability to organize and prioritize multiple responsibilities and function independently, as well as within a team environment, with minimal supervision. Ability to effectively resolve problems or issues by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, and industry regulations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to adapt and respond timely to the needs of the assigned contract to ensure that excellent customer service is provided at all times.

The pay range for this position is $28.00-32.00 USD per hour. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
