Glynn County is located along the Atlantic coast in southeastern Georgia midway between Savannah, GA, and Jacksonville, FL. Established in 1777 from 423 square miles of land formerly held by Creek Indians Glynn County is named for John Glynn, a member of the British Parliament and a friend of the colonies who once held the position of Sergeant of London.
The area ranks as one of the top tourist destinations in the nation. Known as "The Golden Isles", the county's mainland is surrounded by barrier islands including Jekyll Island, Saint Simons Island, and Sea Island.
Mild winters, together with natural beaches, vast stretches of marshland, maritime forests, historical sites, and abundant wildlife on both land and sea attract families, nature, fishing and water sports enthusiasts, golfers, and history buffs.
The Glynn County Animal Services protects public health and safety, enforces animal cruelty and neglect laws, and aims to address the root causes of animal problems. We provide support, information, access to care, and resources to the community. Glynn CountyAnimal Services is a limited admission shelter, meaning we can only accept owner-surrendered and healthy, stray dogs and cats from within Glynn County and the City of Brunswick when we have space available. We have to prioritize providing shelter for animals who are acting aggressively or who are sick or injured and homeless.
