Heartland Farm Sanctuary is an amazing place. Our mission to inspire compassion for all beings is truly evident in every corner of the sanctuary. From the rescued residents grazing in the pasture, to the children at summer camp laughing and exploring, to the peaceful natural environment surrounding the sanctuary, one is reminded of how kindness can be transformative. When I come to work, I always feel like I am treated like family, and I feel that what I do every day has a positive impact on the community. The work atmosphere is positive, inclusive, passionate, and full of life. It is very refreshing to be supported in so many ways; you are seen and heard, you get to be your authentic self every day, and there are numerous opportunities for personal and professional growth. I started as a weekly volunteer, taking care of animals and handling administrative tasks. I found healing at Heartland after leaving my previous job due to burnout, which had taken a toll on my mental health. Eventually, I found myself being hired and promoted to the Development Operations Manager at Heartland because everyone believed in me and saw my potential.
