We are currently a 2 doctor practice, primarily small animal with a case majority of dogs, followed by cats. We have a large boarding and daycare facility and provide services to the animals in our care over the course of their stay. We have a significant surgical caseload with a high density of dental procedures. We partner with the Chester Country Sheriff's Department K9 Unit and provide a field for their training in search and rescue, explosive/contraband detection/agility/recall/and detainment training. Staff involvement is encouraged. We completely sponsor the medical care of two canine officers.

We are situated on 10 acres in West Chester Pennsylvania with an educated clientele demographic that is capable and willing to provide gold-standard care for their pets. Our property is completely fenced and we offer an extensive outdoor daycare program. Our facility is very modern and underwent recent complete renovation. Our record-keeping software is cloud based and completion of medical records from home is allowed within a 24 hour period of the exam being generated. All of our computers are new and highly efficient. We have 3 spacious and fully equipped exam rooms each equipped with otoscope, ophthalmoscope, and all equipment necessary to perform full physical exam. Fold down tables provide large floor space to work with larger patients. An exam room with private entrance/exit is provided as a comfort room or for contagious and aggressive patients. We have a complete Abaxis in-house lab providing chemistry, complete blood count, and automated urinalysis. High-end Olympus microscope, spectrometer, tonometry, and rapid MHT spin centrifuge. 10L/min oxygen concentrator with central scavenge throughout treatment, dental, surgery, and radiology. Intravenous fluid pumps, syringe drivers, and modern anesthesia monitoring. Spacious surgery with heated table, Bair Hugger, excellent quality double-headed lighting, suction, and a wide variety of soft tissue and orthopedic equipment. (orthopedic procedures include CCL repair, luxating patella repair, fracture repair, femoral head and neck osteotomy, extensive soft tissue surgery offered). Dedicated dental suite with floor to bar height adjustable wet table with independent water source, wall mount Midmark Progeny DR dental radiograph, multiple complete extraction kits, and a 2hp Midmark high speed set. Surgical quality lighting in the dental suite. Spacious treatment room with multiple wet tables. Digital radiology suite.

Twice a month we have a traveling cardiologist come to the office for client convenience. We also have a traveling board certified surgeon that comes to the office as needed for exams and more complex surgeries.

I've been a technician at this hospital for the past year and to say that I love my job here is an understatement. I have worked in some truly toxic work environments where nursing staff is undervalued, disrespected and advancement is suppressed. I worked in general practice while I was in tech school, and once becoming a CVT I gained experience in clinical research and emergency medicine. I was initially a client here and appreciated the care my own pets were receiving (and hated my previous workplace) so much that I jumped once I saw a job opportunity available. The doctors here are excellent teachers, which is important to me because I like learning and developing a full understanding of the more challenging cases we are managing. I've learned so much in the past year about anesthesia, disease process and pharmacology, and continue learning more each day. CE and additional certifications are encouraged, and the costs are covered. Benefits including health insurance, 401k match, and significant discounts on employee pet care are offered for full time employees. The owners also plan several fun events a year to help encourage team building and socialization outside of the workplace, which is refreshing and much needed in such a stressful field. The shifts are long and busy; the docs each have dedicated surgery days in addition to seeing scheduled appointments and also accommodating animals that are boarding/in daycare...so this job is not for the faint at heart, it will keep you on your toes for sure! You will be challenged past your comfort zone, but in a good way because thats what facilitates your growth! Of course anything that you genuinely don't feel comfortable with, there is always someone who can tag in and offer you a hand to show you how it's done. This team truly works so well together, like a well oiled machine. This practice works hard to build positive relationships with clients and pets, and that is what makes this job the most rewarding to me as not just an animal person, but also a people person. I also love that this place puts you where you flourish and what helps feed your happiness - I love being a room tech where as another nurse has more of a passion for surgery. We are all cross trained, and can effectively perform in any area of nursing in our facility, but they put an effort in to let us focus on the areas that we flourish or want to improve.
