The Senior Veterinary Technician supports in-vivo testing of medical devices to meet R&D and regulatory requirements. They will serve as an animal surgical technician in a vivarium environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of laboratory test using both routine and special techniques and methods and assist in complex laboratory tasks as required under minimal supervision of the veterinarian, Laboratory Supervisor and Study Directors

  • Calibrate and operate standard laboratory equipment

  • Collect, analyze, and process laboratory samples. Record results, organize data, and perform basic computations and interpret results

  • Review, follow and perform job functions in compliance with established work instructions and adherence with SOPs and protocols

  • May train, coach, and guide other technicians on new procedures, assess work techniques and provide feedback on procedures

  • Additional Factors / Environmental Tolerances:

    • Will require working with human and animal blood and/or tissues.

    • 100% of time will be spent in a laboratory environment.

    • Heavy lifting and standing for long periods of time.

    • Provide pre-clinical in vivo laboratory testing services

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with animals

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Associate degree

  • Experience in a GLP environment

  • Experience with swine and ruminants

  • Experience in an interventional radiology environment (cath lab)

  • Education or experience as a veterinary technician in biomedical research or private practice is highly desired

  • Ability to operate a variety of laboratory equipment (anesthesia machines, blood analyzers, etc)

  • Understanding of good documentation practices

  • Understanding of sterile technique

  • Appreciation for organization and cleanliness

  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written

  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team

  • Experience with medical imagery specifically CT

  • LAT (Laboratory Animal Technician) certification

  • Moderate knowledge of animal care, anatomy, physiology, and laboratory processes

  • Moderate knowledge of AALAS (American Association for Laboratory Animal Science), USDA, DEA regulations

  • Good computer skills, including usage of MS Office; experience with electronic equipment systems

  • Knowledge of and adherence to Environmental Health and Safety and Quality guidelines as they relate to biological assays

  • Strict attention to detail

Aligning our overall business objectives with performance, we offer competitive salaries, performance-based incentives, and a wide variety of benefits programs to address the diverse individual needs of our employees and their families.

For California, the base pay range for this position is $53,000 to $75,000 (highly experienced).
