Licensed Veterinary Technician - Pharmacy & Client Care Role

Looking for Something Different in Veterinary Medicine?

West Ashley Veterinary Clinic is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician for a unique pharmacy and client-care-focused role within our growing 7-doctor small animal practice. This position is ideal for an LVT who enjoys the medical side of veterinary medicine, client communication, organization, and supporting the hospital team - without spending the day in exam rooms.

This role offers flexibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to become an essential resource for both clients and team members.

Schedule & Flexibility

We understand work-life balance matters and are happy to work with you to accommodate an ideal schedule whenever possible.

Clinic Hours

  • Monday-Friday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM
  • Saturdays & Sundays: Closed

Scheduling: Flexible daytime hours

Full-time preferred, but we are open to discussing part-time options for the right candidate.

What This Role Looks Like

This is primarily a non-floor position focused on pharmacy coordination, patient follow-up, client communication, and medical support for the team.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage in-clinic and online pharmacy refill requests
  • Create and send treatment estimates to clients
  • Follow up with clients regarding estimates, questions, and scheduling
  • Conduct follow-up calls for sick appointments and monitor patient progress
  • Confirm surgical appointments and review pre-operative instructions
  • Ensure pre-op bloodwork and medications are completed before procedures
  • Serve as a resource for CSRs regarding scheduling, triage, and medical questions
  • Assist Veterinary Assistants with medication and treatment plan questions
  • Communicate with outside laboratories regarding specialized testing and sample collection
  • Help coordinate smooth patient flow and continuity of care

Additional Duties (Preferred but Not Required)

  • Occasional surgical monitoring
  • Assisting with procedures as needed

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician - Must be licensed in SC
  • Will consider a highly experienced veterinary professional with strong medical knowledge

We currently have 7 doctors on staff, with another joining soon, and we exclusively treat dogs and cats.

Responsibilities may vary depending on the hospital and/or state and will be outlined by the state's Veterinary Practice Act and/or the responsible veterinarian, where applicable.

  • Utilize Your Full Skillset: You'll be a vital part of the medical team, providing comprehensive patient care, including administering treatments, monitoring anesthesia, and performing lab work.
  • Be a Leader and Mentor: You'll guide and support the medical team, ensuring an efficient workflow while mentoring others to help them grow their skills and careers.
  • Partner with Clients: You'll be a key point of contact for pet owners, educating them on treatments, reviewing medical records, and confidently answering their questions.
  • Contribute to a Positive Culture: You'll play an active role in training, providing feedback, and maintaining the high standards of our hospital environment.

What You'll Bring to the Team

  • Graduate of an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technician program.
  • A current state veterinary technician license in good standing.
  • Proficiency in a range of technical skills, including nursing, surgery, dental care, radiology, and laboratory procedures.
  • A calm and efficient approach, especially in fast-paced or stressful situations.
  • Strong communication skills and a passion for working collaboratively.
  • One year of experience in the veterinary industry is preferred.
