Veterinary Technician / Veterinary Assistant

With patient care and wellbeing as our primary focus, Draper Animal Hospital cross-trains team members to receive patients; answer the telephone; schedule appointments; check out clients; sanitize the hospital; maintain equipment and laboratory machines; perform safe and comfortable patient holds/restraints; prepare slides for laboratory cytology evaluation; record detailed medical documentation; draw up vaccines and treatments; perform nail trims; prepare and sterilize surgical packs; obtain temperature/pulse/respiration; educate clients; perform anal gland expressions; collect fecal, urine, & blood samples; administer injectables; run and prepare various laboratory tests; place IV catheters; intubate/extubate; monitor general anesthesia; assist in surgery; recover patients post general anesthesia &/or sedation; remove catheters; remove sutures & staples; clean/groom patients for discharge.

Punctuality, teamwork, commitment and ability to work during hospital hours (Mon. - Thur., arrive @ 7:25 a.m. - ~6:25 p.m.).

Self-motivated, hardworking, physically active (able to work with a consistent pace and lift 50 pounds), dedicated to patient and client care and wellbeing, uses professional verbal and written communication, ability to utilize mental math skills.
