Job Summary
Job Description
The Animal Alliance of Greater Syracuse (AAGS) is excited to announce the upcoming launch of the AAGS Spay/Neuter Clinic, and we need surgical veterinarians to lead our procedures! Our clinic will provide spay and neuter surgeries, for dogs, domestic cats, and feral/community cats.
For years, AAGS has worked towards building a high-volume, high-quality, low-cost spay/neuter clinic and the time has finally come! AAGS is a 501c3 non-profit with a mission to "make Central New York a safer and more humane home for animals and the people who care about them". This program is one of four the non-profit provides, including extensive work with animal cruelty investigations, fundraising for these animals needing medical care, and offering rewards for cruelty/abandonment tips.
What is a "win" in our book:
A win for us is finding veterinarians who maintain high medical standards of care and make sure the clinic is set up for continued success. We believe in open lines of communication in a professional and supportive environment.
Must-haves:
- Perform pre-op exams, high-volume sterilizations (training provided), and post-op checks
- Oversee patient care, controlled substance handling, and recovery
- Maintain an active DEA license
- Administer vaccines and recommend follow-up care
- Handle surgical complications and perform CPR/emergency procedures
- Maintain ethical, safe, and professional veterinary standards
- Evaluate and improve medical protocols with clinic leadership
- Supervise, train, and support surgical staff
Nice-to-haves:
- Licensed to practice in NYS (DVM/VMD)
Our honesty about pace and location: We will work to fit your schedule and honor things like 2-3 day work weeks. We'll assess your level of high-volume training and sponsor a trip to our partner trainers if needed. The clinic space is located just outside of Syracuse, NY with plenty of parking and eateries close by. If you are currently outside of NY, ask us about relocation assistance.
If you're passionate about animal welfare and ready to help us launch something meaningful, apply today and be a part of improving animal welfare in Central New York.
