Job Title: Kennel Technician

Location: Denison Animal Welfare Group (DAWG)-Denison Texas

Reports to: Shelter Manager

Overview: DAWG is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Technician to join our team. This position pays a critical role in the daily care, health and well-being of the animals in our shelter. The ideal candidate is hardworking, dependable, and passionate about animal welfare.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, watering, cleaning kennels, and general maintenance of the facility

Monitor animal behavior and health, reporting any signs of illness or distress to the Shelter Manager

Assist with intake procedures, including vaccinations, microchipping, and assessments

Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of all animal areas, following DAWG protocols for disease prevention and control

Exercise and socialize animals to improve adoptability and reduce stress

Assist with laundry, dishes, and restocking supplies as needed

Handle animals humanely and safely, using proper restraint and techniques

Support volunteers and visitors, providing respectful and informed guidance

Occasionally assist with off-site events or transport

Qualifications:

Previous experience working with animals (preferred but not required)

Abillity to work weekends, holidays, and in all weather conditions

Strong work ethic, reliability and teamwork mindset

Physical ability to lift 50+ pounds, stand for long periods, and perform strenuous tasks

Working Conditions:

This position requires working in an active animal shelter environment with exposure to cleaning chemicals, animal waste, noise, and potential allergens. It can be emotionally and physically demanding, but also deeply rewarding.
