Job Description:
The Director of Academic Excellence is a faculty position with responsibility for teaching, academic support leadership, and program development. This role contributes directly to student learning through instruction in professional identity and related themes within the professional skills curriculum. Faculty in this role are expected to foster student learning, participate in scholarly activity, and engage in service to the profession and community. The Director also leads student academic support initiatives, evaluates their effectiveness, and collaborates with Academic Affairs and University resources to provide individualized and program-wide student success plans.

Required Qualifications:
  • Masters degree in education, counseling, or related field of study.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in higher education or related academic support roles.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctoral or terminal degree in Education or another relevant discipline.
  • Experience teaching or advising in a professional or graduate program.
  • Knowledge of veterinary education goals and student success outcomes.

Promote and coordinate student use of University-level counseling services for mental health and wellness support

Collaborate with University and College resources to promote overall student wellbeing.

Job Duty:
Design, implement, and evaluate academic success programs that strengthen student learning and retention

Job Duty:
Collaborate with the Office of Student Affairs initiatives to promote student belonging, engagement, and well-being

Job Duty:
Support NAVLE preparation and outcomes by integrating targeted academic interventions

Job Duty:
Contribute to curricular review and improvement processes

Job Duty:
Collaborate with Academic Affairs to analyze student outcomes, retention, and academic performance

Job Duty:
Provide reports on the effectiveness of student success initiatives and recommend improvements

Apply data-informed approaches to strengthen academic support programming

Job Duty:
Collaborate with faculty, Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, and University support services to promote student achievement

Serve on College and University committees as assigned

Support student recruitment initiatives by sharing academic support resources and outcomes

Job Duty:
Foster professional, supportive, and inclusive relationships with students, faculty, and staff
