Under supervision of the Large Animal Clinic Managers, provide support and assistance to the Animal Health Technicians, Veterinarians, & Veterinary students in the William R. Pritchard Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital Large Animal Clinic. Perform & communicate to Large Animal Clinic Managers the facility maintenance including WOs, specialty orders and day to day maintenance needs. Ensure Infectious Disease Control (IDC) protocols are followed, cultures performed, results monitored, & appropriate action implemented. #CA-AR

Experience using cleaning tools & other miscellaneous tools, pulling carts and trailers, driving trucks, tractors, forklifts, and backing a single trailer.
Experience maintaining cleanliness of stalls, equipment & facility.
Experience working with and restraining equines & other large domestic animals.
Experience with farm animal husbandry and behavior sufficient to recognize a stable animal from an animal in distress.
Experience with feeds & feeding, sufficient to identify different feeds & proportions.
Oral & written communication & interpersonal skills to interact with a diverse group of people: clients, clinicians, students, & staff and understand and follow verbal and written instructions in regard to basic care of large animals.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience loading and hauling horses and cattle in trailers.
Experience with minor plumbing and mechanical repairs.
Knowledge of computer use sufficient to read and send emails and check environmental culture results from the laboratory.
Knowledge of zoonotic diseases in farm animals.

The Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH) is a unit that provides clinical case material in support of the teaching programs throughout the School of Veterinary Medicine on a 24-hour basis. Its primary objectives are to train professional (veterinary) students, graduate clinical students (interns and residents), and graduate academic students; to provide veterinary services to the public; to serve as a referral center for practicing veterinarians, and to advance veterinary medical knowledge.
