Kennel Assistant and Janitorial Maintenance

Hurricane Animal Hospital is seeking a dependable, energetic, and self-motivated animal lover with experience in animal care, animal handling, and customer service.  We provide medical care to dogs and cats, as well as, most reptiles and small mammals.  Our hospital continues to grow, and we are looking to expand our hours by providing evening and weekend shifts.  We need a full-time assistant to help with kennel care and janitorial services most weekday evenings and with rotations on weekend shifts.  We will consider multiple part-time employees as well.  

Veterinary assistants must be able to successfully restrain animals, complete laboratory tests, and deliver compassionate nursing care. Services provided can include medication delivery, laser therapy, and animal restraint in a fear-free and low-stress approved manner.  Other veterinary assisting requirements will include walking dogs, some pet grooming, nail trimming, and implanting microchips. We provide client education regarding preventive medicine, microchipping, heartworm testing, parasite prevention, weight loss, and the importance of dental care.

Evening hours communication of patient care and status will be an important part of this job.  In addition, there will be a large amount of cleaning, preparation for the next day's procedures, and maintenance tasks to complete during the hours we are closed to customers.  

We are looking to fill several part-time positions and would love to have someone with interests in growing their skills in nursing, cancer care, surgery, physical therapy, exotics, or internal medicine.  We believe our team is most effective when they can grow in areas they enjoy, and we encourage our team to become more valuable through continuing education and the addition of services to our hospital.
