Veterinary Assistant

Three Village Veterinary Hospital, located in Stony Brook, N.Y., is seeking an experienced FT/PT veterinary assistant for our small, privately owned, local animal hospital. Our veterinary assistants are an integral part of our team, and prior experience in this capacity is required.

Our veterinary assistants have a multitude of responsibilities, some of which include starting appointments, taking histories, bathing patients, restraining patients during examinations and/or vaccinations, assisting during surgical procedures, cleaning cages and exam tables/rooms, sterilizing equipment, and keeping accurate records and logs. Exacting attention to detail is a must, as are excellent communication skills and the ability to meet the physical emands of this position (e.g. lift up to 40 lbs.). We require at least a high school diploma, but a certificate from a veterinary assistant program is a plus. Hourly wages of $20-$24 are commensurate with experience.
