Job Overview:

  • The PetIQ VCA IV position is a Registered Veterinary Technician who is responsible for providing superior customer service to all pet parents and support to Veterinarians.
  • Competent in phlebotomy and administration of injections
  • Expert in safe restraint of pets for wellness procedures including vaccines, nail trims and microchipping
  • Contributes to the development of veterinary clinic assistants, monitors processes, procedures, and pet parent interactions
  • Collects and prepares blood and fecal samples for laboratory testing
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary work environment by disinfecting surfaces and equipment between each pet
  • Drives van to and from clinics responsibly; loads and unloads the vans upon arrival anddeparture (Community Clinics)
  • Makes expert recommendations for services and products to every pet, every time based on pet's lifestyle and an understanding of canine and feline diseases
  • Promotes a culture of safety in the clinic and lives our values while reinforcing our brand promise with pet parents, partners, and team members
  • Ability to execute inventory processes by maintaining accurate product counts and managing expiration dates for vaccines and products
  • Directs the clinic flow by utilizing effective communication, organization, and time management skills
  • Provides customer service to pet parents by answering questions and assisting them through the clinic process
  • Achieves Goals as set by your manager including dollars per pet, pets per clinic, preferred product and microchips sold
  • Scans pets for microchips
  • Collects payment, dispenses and labels medication properly, and reviews discharge paperwork with pet parents
  • Prepares canine and feline vaccines
  • Establish and maintains effective relationships with pet parents and partners
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimal Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Valid driver's license
  • Community Clinics Pass MVR Check
  • Must be able to work weekends, varied weekdays and times, occasional overnights
  • Reliable transportation to and from work
  • Previous Animal Handling Experience, including restraint and animal behavior
  • Must be able to drive a company vehicle for long hours and in various terrain and weather conditions. Portion of workday spent in vehicle. (Community Clinics)
  • Some outdoor clinic work and activities may be necessary
  • Must be able to work for prolonged periods of time in the field, including 12-14-hour days
  • Present professional appearance and positive conduct

  • Independent judgment and decision-making skills
  • Detail oriented, ensuring accurate and reliable work product
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong ability to effectively work with cross-functional teams to direct and lead company initiatives and goals

  • Ability to switch focus rapidly in a fast-paced environment

Education & Certification Requirements:

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT), or Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) required
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous customer service or sales experience
  • Proficient computer software (iPad, Bluetooth devices and more)
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work within a team to meet team goals and objectives
  • Adept in approaching host location's customers to educate about our clinics
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
