Introduction
Our client is a hospital seeking a Veterinary Criticalist to join their 24/7 multi-specialty referral and emergency center, treating cats, dogs, and pocket pets. This position is open to board-certified or residency-trained candidates and offers either full-time or part-time opportunities within a schedule to be discussed.
Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time or part-time position with scheduling to be discussed. The hospital operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Role Description and Responsibilities
A veterinary criticalist is a board-certified specialist in emergency and critical care, focusing on treating severely ill or injured animals. You will work the intensive care units (ICUs), and specialty clinics, providing life-saving care to pets facing critical conditions. This role is open to residency-trained or board-certified candidates only.
Practice Details
The hospital is AAHA accredited and operates as a 24/7 multi-specialty referral and emergency facility. It is equipped with a full in-house laboratory, digital radiography, on-site spiral CT and MRI, color flow Doppler ultrasound, a portable ultrasound unit, and an oxygen cage system. Specialty services include emergency and critical care, surgery, internal medicine, neurology, oncology, and cardiology. The facility houses an established critical care service, already supported by an experienced boarded criticalist. The hospital is widely recognized in the veterinary community for innovation and leadership in advanced procedures and is committed to clinical education through continuing education seminars and a residency training program.
Team
The medical team consists of 28 DVMs, including 3 neurologists, 3 surgery residents, 2 internists, 13 ER veterinarians, 3 surgeons, 1 neurology resident, 1 criticalist, 1 oncologist, and 1 cardiologist, working alongside 10 RVTs and additional support staff in a highly collaborative environment.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
