Introduction
Our client is a hospital seeking a full-time Associate Veterinarian to join their large, multi-species practice serving aviary pets, cats, dogs, pocket pets, pot-bellied pigs, rabbits, reptiles, and ZooMED patients. This role follows a four-day, 10-hour shift schedule and offers the opportunity to work in a high-quality facility with a strong focus on exotic and general practice care.
Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position consisting of four 10-hour shifts per week. The hospital is open seven days a week from 7:30 am to 6:30 pm.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Associate Veterinarian will perform comprehensive physical examinations and wellness screenings, and will diagnose and treat a wide variety of medical conditions, injuries, and illnesses using evidence-based medicine and advanced diagnostic techniques. This position is open to experienced veterinarians.
Practice Details
The hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art resources including a beautiful operating room, multiple wet tables in a large treatment area, and dedicated spaces for each doctor. The facility is progressing toward fully hands-free radiography and has a team trained in patient positioning, sedation monitoring, and recovery. Additional equipment includes cold laser therapy, dental radiography, and full diagnostics. Services provided include advanced and soft tissue surgery, preventive and primary care, hospice care, oxygen and transfusion therapy, and ZooMED animal care. The facility features seven exam rooms, including a cat-specific room and a private comfort suite, and a pet resort attached to the hospital. The lobby is being redesigned to separate canine and feline areas. The hospital is a regional leader in exotic pet care and serves as a wildlife drop-off center for Project Wildlife, with strong ties to the San Diego Humane Society.
Team
The medical team includes 4 doctors and 17 support staff, working in a collaborative and well-equipped environment focused on high-quality, compassionate care.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
