Practice Manager – Exeter Veterinary Hospital

Full-Time | Exeter, NH

Exeter Veterinary Hospital is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Practice Manager to lead our team of compassionate professionals in providing outstanding care to our patients and exceptional service to our clients. We are a privately owned, small animal practice committed to maintaining a collaborative and positive environment for both our staff and the families we serve.

Position Summary:

The Practice Manager role combines medical practice management with people leadership, focusing on driving quality medicine and excellent client/patient experiences within a collaborative team environment.  The PM is responsible for overseeing the operations of the hospital, including managing staff, coordinating scheduling, maximizing client service, and assisting with facility and equipment oversight. This role is vital in creating an efficient, supportive, and positive workplace culture that promotes high-quality care and employee satisfaction. There will be close interaction with and feedback from hospital ownership to reach and maintain the goals and vision for the hospital.  Previous experience in veterinary medicine is desirable but not required for success in this position.

Key Responsibilities:

Personnel Management

  • Manage and adjust staff schedules and assignments
  • Lead the hiring, onboarding, and coordinating training of support staff
  • Maintain and enforce employment policies and employee handbook, as well as OSHA, etc. requirements
  • Serve as the point person for staff questions, coaching, and routine problem-solving
  • Monitor employee competence and effectiveness.
  • Provide real-time feedback and performance reviews, provide input into pay scale/adjustments
  • Coordinate continuing education and skills development opportunities to support career growth
  • Grow a positive work culture to include excellent employee relations and communication
  • Promote a collaborative, fun and respectful work environment that bolsters morale and staff retention

Client Service & Operational Oversight

  • Ensure high standards of compassionate patient care and client satisfaction
  • Oversee front desk and client communication procedures
  • Address client concerns, coordinate feedback and response with others
  • Ensure positive client/patient flow and a smooth hospital workflow
  • Collaborate with the medical team to support efficient exam and surgical scheduling
  • Assist in managing facility and existing equipment and new equipment acquisition
  • Manage social media/online interactions and marketing as well as community outreach opportunities
  • Collaborate in generating progressive hospital policies and culture
  • Facilitate and manage ongoing computerization and integration of paperlight policies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a veterinary, healthcare, or medical office setting
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with strong team development skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Highly organized and effective at multitasking and prioritizing
  • Compassionate and people-focused, with strong emotional intelligence
  • Comfortable handling pets when needed
  • Ability to lead meetings and drive positive staff engagement
  • Knowledge of veterinary software (e.g., AVImark, IDEXX) is a plus
