Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and innovative new associate for our growing small animal practice. Our clinic focuses on small animal preventative medicine, surgery, dental care, boarding and training. We strive to create a positive team atmosphere for our staff, clients and patients.  Our current team includes 3 licensed highly skilled technicians, 4 assistants and 2 receptionists. Our staff talent is matched by their compassion and dedication to our clients and the animals in our community. We are open Monday thru Friday. We have great working relationships with several local emergency clinics and referral facilities for our patients after hours and specialty care. Job responsibilities would include the following:  

  • Performing physical exams, vaccinations, soft tissue surgery, wound care and dental procedures mainly by appointment, although the occasional walk-in occurs
  • Working closely with clients to develop treatment plans based patient needs and budget
  • Communicating our physical exam and diagnostic findings to clients in a caring and understanding way
  • Making dietary, medical and nutritional recommendations including long term treatment plans to provide head to tail care 
  • Maintaining client/patient records and logs, compile and summarize files for patient referrals
  • Stay up to date on new medical information and changes in veterinary medicine along with attending annual continuing education sessions
  • Utilize current technology within our practice such as digital radiology, ultrasound and Idexx lab equipment proficiently
  • Assist in leading our veterinary care team to ensure the delivery of quality care in an efficient and professional environment
  • Positively represent our clinic in the community and to the general public at outside events

Requirements:

  • DVM degree from accredited university
  • USDA Accreditation
  • License to practice in Alabama
  • At least 2 years small animal practice experience
  • Positive team player with a "Can Do" attitude and willingness to work
  • Commitment to a high standard of care, upholding the code of ethics
