Seeking a full time Veterinarian for a busy, award-winning non-profit hospital/no-kill animal shelter combined practice.  We treat only cats and dogs, including those being sheltered by us, adoptees coming in for return regular care and/or pets acquired elsewhere.  We are a full service veterinary hospital including complete diagnostics, surgery, dentistry, x-ray, ultrasound, and laser therapy. We just moved into our brand new, state-of-the-art 15,000 square foot building which houses our clinic, shelter, offices, and community spaces.  At least 3 years of experience required.


Job Description

The Humane Society of Greater Jupiter/Tequesta dba Furry Friends Adoption, Clinic & Ranch is seeking a Veterinarian (licensed in Florida) to join our award winning team. You must be able to operate within our no-kill shelter core values.

Responsible for humane daily care of all patients (shelter-owned and privately-owned), ensuring all receive high-quality preventative & sick-visit care.  The primary function of this position is to provide general practice veterinary medicine and occasionally representing the organization at public events.



  • Maintain a high level of professional competence

  • Collaborate with the clinic team to create protocols and ensure staff adheres to them

  • Ensure the safety and sanitation of the examination suites

  • Communicate with Clinic private clients in a caring, effective, & professional manner

  • Collaborate with Furry Friends leadership to continually uphold professional standards

  • Support the fundraising and educational activities of Furry Friends, as appropriate



  • Examine and treat animals who are owned by private clients or by our no-kill animal shelter

  • Refer animals for surgery either by our in-house surgeon or local specialists

  • Educate clients on the importance of preventative care

  • Cultivate positive relationships with clients and their pets through excellent communication

  • Maintain clear & accurate medical records

  • See that a high degree of veterinary professionalism is practiced at all times

  • Communicate effectively with veterinary colleagues and Furry Friends administrative leadership, to keep management apprised of all out of the ordinary situations

  • Communicate any issues concerning staff or patients with Operations Director

  • Provide input and communicate any issues regarding the clinic’s disease control protocols, surgical protocols, or other medical issues at regular Veterinarian meetings or with the Operations Director as appropriate

  • Behave in a manner that upholds both personal and professional standards, as an ambassador of Furry Friends at all times

  • Train any designated persons in aspects of patient care and efficient/safe clinic practices, maintaining a professional and friendly manner at all times

  • Be available to travel and train as requested

  • Be a leader among staff, displaying a positive attitude and acting as a motivating force for all staff members

  • All other duties, as assigned


1. Must be a licensed Veterinarian in the state of Florida

2. Must maintain all current and correct licensure

3. Graduate of an accredited school of veterinary medicine or equivalent.

4. Enthusiasm for Shelter Veterinary Medicine is strongly desired

5. Must have a valid driver’s license

6. Must possess or have the ability to obtain DEA license
