Job Description

The Shot Spot is a full-service veterinary hospital and fleet of mobile wellness trucks located in McKinney, TX. We are committed to ending economic euthanasia by providing high-quality, affordable and convenient veterinary care. Our goal is to break down the barriers to care that many pet owners face. Our hospital is located in McKinney, TX, a rapidly growing suburb of Dallas.

The Shot Spot is a family-owned, rapidly growing business. Our hospital is open 7 days a week offering clients digital radiography, laser therapy and surgery, Abaxis integrated in-house lab equipment, a fully equipped surgical suite, and digital cloud-based record keeping. In addition to our full-service hospital, we operate mobile wellness trucks. The trucks operate 4 days a week bringing convenient and affordable wellness care to the DFW area.

We are looking for leaders with a drive to help provide the golden standard of veterinary care. We trust and empower our veterinarians to practice their full scope of veterinary medicine. We are seeking a full-time veterinarian for our hospital; as well as, veterinarians for our mobile wellness units. Our hospital and trucks are an important part of the community and we need a veterinarian and team that will have an ongoing presence in the community.

We attract doctors who appreciate practicing best medicine and seeing a variety of challenging and unique small animal cases.  Mentoring, teaching, and being part of a community are cornerstones of our hospital.  We strive to employ experienced veterinary assistant/technician staff, and our back office is handled by a hospital administrator and company support staff so doctors can focus on providing outstanding care and developing a solid team.  We do not believe in cutting corners to lower prices but we strive to make prices affordable so more pets can receive care.

What do we expect?

  • D.V.M. degree and completion of state licensing requirements (in good standing)
  • Exotics, orthopedic, and advanced soft-tissue surgical experience a plus but not required
  • Demonstration of respectful, engaging and compassionate interaction with clients and staff
  • Strong communication and ability to mentor
  • Solid conflict resolution skills (willing to have difficult conversations)
  • Desire for continuing education and empirical evidence- a lifelong student and teacher of veterinary medicine

Physical contact with and treatment of small animals may require extended periods of sitting, bending, standing, using hands/arms, looking down, and focus.  Exposure to chemicals, unpleasant odors, bright lights, and high noise levels.  Required to type electronic medical records in computer.  May be required to lift 40 lbs. and more with assistance.   Compassion fatigue and stress is possible in veterinary medicine and we encourage open communication among staff members, and possibly professional assistance, to guide staff through crisis and/or to maintain emotional wellbeing.
