Job Description

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsibilities:  As a Veterinary Assistant, your primary duties will include:

  • Cleaning exam rooms and maintaining overall hospital cleanliness.
  • Assisting technicians and veterinarians in their duties.
  • Friendly and caring interaction with animals and clients.
  • Working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Qualifications Desired:

  • Previous experience in the veterinary field is advantageous.
  • High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Customer service experience.
Qualifications

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor at all times.
  • Uphold optimal cleanliness throughout the hospital premises.
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency and efficiency in serving clients, doctors, and reception.
  • Assist with various tasks that air in the care of the hospital as well as its clients and patient
  • Work compassionately with clients in various emotional states.
  • Follow AAHA guidelines and perform all duties according to the guidelines of the American Animal Hospital Association.

Personal Requirements:

  • Minimum age of 16.
  • Ability to stay calm and decisive in stressful situations.
  • Excellent communication skills and willing to take directions.
  • Team player mentality, working well with all hospital team members.
  • Adaptability to change.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Lift and carry animals (assistance provided for animals over 40 pounds).
  • Extended periods of walking and standing.
  • Frequent crouched or bent positions.
  • Exposure to unpleasant odors and noises.
  • Comfortable handling blood, animal feces, and urine.
  • Comfortable around all species of pets, including dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and small animals.
