General Practice (Veterinarian)

Introduction
Our client is a privately owned hospital seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join their growing team. This is a small animal practice primarily serving cats and dogs, with the potential to expand services to include rabbits and hamsters for a veterinarian with a specific interest. The clinic emphasizes a personalized and comprehensive approach to veterinary care within a supportive, well-resourced environment.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and is closed on weekends. A full-time schedule typically includes four working days per week. The position offers flexibility, with both full-time and part-time opportunities available and open for discussion to best accommodate individual preferences.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The role encompasses all general practice duties and responsibilities. A full-time doctor typically has one surgery day each week, performing a mix of soft tissue surgeries and dental procedures, and three appointment-based days seeing a variety of well and sick patients. Appointment lengths are generally 30 minutes. While surgical competency is preferred, the hospital is open to considering doctors who are not surgically focused. Both experienced veterinarians and new graduates are encouraged to apply, with a strong mentorship program in place to support early career development.

Practice Details
The hospital operates out of a spacious 10,000 square foot facility and is well-equipped with advanced technology, including a CT scanner, ultrasound, therapy laser, digital and dental x-ray, and in-house lab equipment. The clinic offers a wide range of general practice services and is complemented by a doctor who provides acupuncture and a visiting orthopaedic surgeon. The team strives to create a low-stress environment for patients and practices with a strong emphasis on fear-free principles.

Team
The hospital currently has three full-time doctors and is looking to expand the team to five. The support staff is experienced and loyal, with many long-term team members. The typical tech-to-doctor ratio is 2:1, increasing to 3:1 on surgery days. The environment is collaborative and team-oriented, providing a strong foundation for mentorship and high-quality patient care.
