Skin and Ear Clinic for Pets, needs an additional veterinary technician. Bloom Animal Hospital is an AAHA hospital located in Livonia, MI (between Detroit and Ann Arbor). The staff includes 3 veterinarians, 5 LVT's, 3 receptionists and 2 ward assistants. The facility has won a Veterinary Economics award for design. Dr Bloom is a board certified veterinary specialist in 2 different specialties (ACVD (dermatology) and ABVP-Canine and Feline Specialty). He is also on staff at MSU as an Assistant Adjunct Professor. This is a unique opportunity to work in a combination referral (dermatology) and primary care practice. The LVT's in this practice are regarded as important professionals who help deliver excellent patient care. We practice state-of-the-art medicine with equipment that includes: ultrasound machine; automatic xray progressor, pulse oximeter; isoflorane anesthesia (3); a high-speed dental unit; dental x-ray machine; cardiac and respiratory monitors; EKG machine; a Cardell blood pressure machine, refletron chemistry machine; 3 IV infusion pumps; and a computerized record system. Surgeries range from declaws to major abdominal procedures. The LVT position includes (but is not limited to) the following responsibilities: 1. Outpatient care (history taking, client education, (explaining diseases, prevention, treatment, and marketing services)); 2. Anesthesia, dental prophylaxes (supra- and sub-gingivally), and assisting in surgery; 3. In-hospital care (IV catheters, radiographs, etc), blood pressure measurements; 4. Laboratory procedures (skin scraping, heartworm testing, ear and skin cytologies, urinalysis, etc); 5. Drug ordering and inventory control; 6. Preparing allergy extracts, and skin testing extracts; 7. Maintaining equipment (dental drills, anesthesia machines, etc). We are looking for an individual who desires to deliver the best available veterinary care. He/she should be able to lead by example and should be a strong team player that can motivate others to strive for their personal best. The ideal candidate is a LVT, but other candidates with strong backgrounds and the desire to succeed will definitely be considered. This job is for the individual who wants to be at the top of the field and is willing to work to achieve that goal. The salary is negotiable, depending on experience.
