Job Title: Animal Care Assistant Company: Location: Burlington, VT Description: Animal Care Assistant Description: The goal of this position is to assist in the maintenance of healthy animals in accordance with state, local and institutional guidelines. The Animal Assistant must properly use and maintain all necessary equipment and follow proper techniques as outlined. This is an entry level position and ranks first out five overall positions. This position is full time M-F, rotational weekend and holidays are required. Advancement possibilities for this position are very high if candidate shows enthusiasm, motivation and ability to follow outline rules and regulations. Cleaning dirty animal caging and supplies ? Prep clean animal caging and supplies ? Operating large scale machinery ? Sweeping and mopping floors, using floor machine ? Empty trash ? Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned storage rooms ? Stocking PPE stations ? Moving shipments of bedding, feed and other supplies from loading dock to animal facilities and other designated locations throughout ? Ability to lift up to 50lbs, bend, stoop, pivot and perform repetitive motions on a daily basis. Ability to stand for long periods of time. ? Transport racks of clean supplies throughout facilities ? Transport ?dirty? supplies to the cagewash areas ? Package and prep boxes of waste for incineration/disposal ? Use approved chemicals, cleaners and disinfectants for sanitizing designated areas and accessories ? Maintain clean and sanitary working areas at all times ? Ability to maintain detailed records of daily activities and quality assurance logs ? Perform basic animal husbandry tasks and health checks as assigned ? Perform duties in a fast-paced, loud, warm environment while wearing personal protective equipment ? Work with minimal supervision in a team environment ? Have and maintain a valid Driver?s License ? Must be able to work rotational weekends and holidays as assigned ? Must be able to effectively communicate verbally, in writing and via email ?
